Parents/Guardians, please remember that sneakers/tennis shoes are required for all students in Grades K-5 for PE class. Children should not wear sandals, flip-flops, crocs, boots or backless shoes (including backless sneakers) to PE class because of the safety concern. Also, please remember that your child should wear clothes appropriate for movement. Wearing skirts, dresses, baggy clothes or loose jewelry can be dangerous and uncomfortable. To avoid your child sitting out from PE class it may be a good idea to pack extra shoes and shorts or pants on PE days. Thank you for your understanding that learning in a safe environment is a top priority!
In case of student injury or illness, parents/guardians will need to adhere to the following physical education/recess guidelines:
Write a note indicating the reason your child needs to be excused from the physical activity portion of PE for 1-3 days.
Provide a physician's note for 3 consecutive days or more. (i.e. Monday, Tuesday Wednesday).
Provide a physician's note upon returning from a long-term illness or injury.
Understand that your child will receive cognitive instruction (reading, writing) depending on the unit and lesson objective.
