Physical Education class provides a variety of opportunities for all elementary school children to develop physically, emotionally, intellectually, and socially. Throughout the year we will provide a positive and active environment to help develop and maintain a healthy and physically active lifestyle for each student.
A Look Ahead - First Quarter
The summer has come to an end! I hope everyone had a fun, active, and safe summer! I can't wait to start the 2015-2016 school year at Fulton! We have a lot of exciting units planned for this year. We are bringing back some favorite units like Volcano, Gymnastics, Rhythms and Dance, the Pumpkin Patch Obstacle Course, Volcano, Mission Impossible and of course Field Day! We will also be bringing back some new units such as the Fulton Combine, Circus Skills and a Turkey Trot! Grades 3-5 will spend time this fall completing the FITNESSGRAM assessments. These assessments will test the students' level of fitness in all 5 components of fitness (Muscle Endurance, Muscle Strength, Cardio respiratory Endurance, Flexibility, and Body Composition). Grades K-2 will spend time practicing all the different types of locomotor skills (walking, jogging, jumping, hopping, leaping, skipping, sliding, and more) as well as pathways (straight, curved, zigzag) and spatial awareness.
I'm also very excited for this school year to start because there will be 2 new additions to the PE department! Please welcome our new part-time PE teacher, Mr. Berry, to Fulton! He will be at our school every Wednesday and Thursday! The second addition to the PE department is Mr. Watts. Mr. Watts will be completing his student teaching requirements at Fulton with me for 6 weeks! We'll be working together to prepare him to become a PE teacher after graduating from Towson University!
